Synopsis : Sethu (Kamal Hassan) and Ranjini (Rekha) are lovers who are forced by the society to take an extreme step. They go to a deserted waterfall with the intention of committing suicide. However, destiny plays a game, wherein Sethu survives while Ranjini meets death. He gets imprisoned for a year as Ranjini's father registers a complaint against him. Dejected with life's trial, Sethu after his release immerses himself in teaching dance to get over Ranjini. A new girl named Malini (Revathy) joins his dance school and tries to win over his heart. Initially,Sethu is cold towards her, but gradually gives in. As cupid is about to strike the couple, once again Sethu faces opposition - this time from a different quarter. Being a Sinhalese, Malini's father does not want his daughter to marry a Tamil man. Will Sethu let history repeat itself or re-write his future with a new ink? Let's wait and watch!
